We're looking for an experienced Production & Transport Manager to support the production and delivery of our speciality chemicals to customers both within the UK and worldwide.
Lakeland Laboratories' speciality surfactant range is manufactured on site and includes:
- Amphoteric surfactants
- Anionic surfactants
- Wax emulsions
- Contract manufacture of bespoke products
Products are manufactured to ISO 45001 Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety standards, with a production capacity reaching 6000 TPA in reactors ranging from 1000 to 25000L.
Our broad range of customers includes multinationals, as well as smaller organisations and manufacturers. Lakeland is well-established amongst customers in the European market, as well as further afield into Asia and with direct sales into the USA. A majority of products are sold into Industrial & Institutional Cleaning.
About the role
You'll be based at our plant in Astley, Greater Manchester. The role includes:
Lakeland manufactures a range currently comprising 60 products across 13 reactors, of which 55% of our volume is accounted for by 4 products.
- Initiating raw material purchase
5 key raw materials account for around 60% of our production.
Management of staff currently comprising 1 Production Assistant, 5 Process Operators and 2 FLT drivers.
UK deliveries made using our dedicated courier. Export to Europe is planned by either Lakeland or by our customers, and deep sea export is principally managed in-house by Lakeland.
Around 40% of our production volume is delivered to 10 key customer accounts.

Benefits & the information you need
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Hours: 35-hour working week between:
- 0800-1700 Monday to Thursday
- 0700-1600 Friday
Holidays: 20 days per annum, plus 8 statutory bank holidays. After your first full calendar year, you'll gain an extra day annually up to a maximum of 30 days.
Bonus: Attendance-based scheme
Pension: Defined Contribution Scheme (employer-matched up to 6%)
Start date: August 2023
